Need a new phone? Did you know it’s cheaper to buy a new phone in the USA and import it versus buying a new phone in Ecuador? You can save hundreds of dollars when you shop using your Trans-Express Miami-based shipping address. Ready to learn more? Check out what you need to know about importing a cell phone into Ecuador.
You can only import new cell phones
Ecuador only allows new cell phones to be imported. You cannot import used phones, although you are allowed to import used cellphone parts.
You’re only allowed one cell phone per person per year
Per Ecuadorian law, you can import only one cell phone per RUC (Ecuadorian tax identity number). This means one new phone per person per year.
The cell phone must travel by itself
Per Ecuadorian law, in order to import a new cell phone into Ecuador, it must travel by itself in its own package. If a cellphone is shipped with other products in the same box, our operators will automatically place a hold on your package and wait for your authorization to separate your items. This separation has an additional charge of $5.
Cell phone’s IMEI is needed for Customs
Ecuadorian Customs needs the phone’s IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) - this is a 15-digit unique number. This number is found on the device’s box. Our operators will capture this number for you; there is no need to have this number beforehand. We’ll take care of this.
They ship via High-Value Consolidation
All cell phone shipments travel via High-Value consolidations. We ship these special shipments out daily to Ecuador.
